Jason Gotcher from Amarillo, Texas decided to enlist in the US Navy after a successful college baseball career. Like many young men after September 11, 2001, he felt drawn to service in the military. He chose to become a Navy Corpsman, realizing the wide range of opportunities available to them. Jason served from 2008 to 2014 and deployed to Helmand Province in Afghanistan in 2010 as part of President's 30,000 troop surge. Jason was willing to speak honestly and openly about his experience there and his account gives average American's a rare and important look into one of the worst parts of war. Jason currently resides in Texas.
